(September 15, 2014) – (Digby, NS):  To mark Continuing Care Month, we will be hosting our annual staff awards and recognition celebration on September 22, 2014.

This is the 11^th Annual Health Association Nova Scotia sponsored Continuing Care Month campaign.   This year, the Health Association and its members have chosen the theme, Continuing Care:  Your Home, Our Passion.  The theme reflects the aim of continuing care services to help people to live well in the place they can call home.  It also reinforces the commitment and compassion of the many people who have chosen this caring field of employment.

The goal of this year’s campaign is to profile the advances being made in Nova Scotia’s continuing care sector to improve quality of life and quality of care for the Nova Scotians who rely on these important services.

The campaign is also about promoting recruitment to this important sector.  It’s a major growth industry.  Thousands of Nova Scotians working in continuing care in a variety of practice settings across the province, such as nursing homes, home care organizations, residential care facilities and adult residential centres/regional rehabilitation centres.  Increased demands for care in the home and community is creating strong employment opportunities for people interested in working in a field that offers flexibility, choice of practice settings, and a desire to help people enjoy optimal quality of life.
